Denied credit but phone still received?

This ever happen to anyone? I recently signed up for a Sprint phone and I got a letter saying my credit was poor and that I was denied service from them because of that. However, 2 days later the phone showed up ready to go. This a mistake or am I missing something here.
Usually when this happens I’m required to pay a security deposit but no money was withdrawn from my card or anything. never even got a bill for a S/D.
Phones on and works and it was for a contract plan, not any pay as you go sort of thing.

Is the phone turned on? If it is then use it but pay the monthly charges–it’ll help rebuild your credit. You can call Sprint and find out what the deal is if you want.
