credit denied
frozen asked:

I went to Kay’s and applied for credit. I was approved a line of credit for 500 but due to the fact my credit wasn’t great they said whatever I buy I had to put 20% down. I get the credit card in my hand like a month later. I go to the store and pick something out. Give them my card only to find out I do not have any credit. kays claim that there systems were down and they issued a false approval and when the system came back up the card was denied. I don’t understand how im looking at a kays charge card right now. why I just got embarrased at the kays store? do they have to honor the initial approval? I never got anything in writing saying I don’t have a credit line.
after making a big fuss, they gave me the line of credit, actually added $50 to my limit. thanks for y’alls help

They have a right to withdraw their extension of credit at any time.

Pay off any past-due accounts and improve your credit so you wont have to worry about stuff like this.

They can do that. If there was a glitch in the system it could have been approved and then denied.

I certainly don’t know the legal side of this but probably, as sucky as this is, Kays can turn you down.

I worked as a mortgage loan processor for a broker and we had this man come in and everything looked good on his credit report so we put his paperwork together and sent it off to the lender. By the time the lender had a chance to look at it, he had spent some more money on another credit card, lowering his score and the lender denied him.

I would just cut up that card and move on. Besides, if your credit is already not so great you really don’t need to be using a store card anyway.

? If you went to the actual store then you should have received some sort of paper stating your credit limit, the terms, etc. I’m not sure they can honor the initial approval, they can’t make the card work seeing as how it’s activated through the credit system online. If your credit is not good enough & you get denied then there isn’t nething they can do about that…. If I were you I’d go and speak with a manager and have them explain the process to you. Even if you dont get a credit card out of it maybe they will feel bad and give you a little gift card or something. Good Luck!
